Thomas Selected To TDS Freshman Best XI

CULVER CITY, Calif. — Tennessee redshirt freshman Jaida Thomas has been recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com on the publication's Freshman Best XI second team, the site announced Monday morning.

A forward from Irving, Texas, Thomas finished her debut campaign on the active roster as the Southeastern Conference leader in total goals (12), points (25) and game-winning goals (5). The bulk of her scoring came during Tennessee's non-conference slate in the spring, recording multiple tallies against Gardner-Webb, App State, Xavier and Wake Forest. She became the first SEC player with four consecutive multi-goal outings since Abby Wambach did so for Florida in 2001.

Thomas' five game-winning goals set a program record for the most match-winners recorded by a Tennessee freshman in a single season. Her 12 scores overall were the second-most from a Lady Vol rookie all-time.

In addition to Monday's honor from TopDrawerSoccer, Thomas' received SEC All-Freshman Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team accolades during the 2020-21 season.
