Volleyball Preview: Tennessee Set for Mississippi State Home Series

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Lady Vol volleyball team is back in action Friday and Saturday as they host Mississippi State at Thompson-Boling Arena.
First serve for both matches is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
In its last time out, Tennessee dropped its series against No. 8 Florida, falling in three sets in both matches.
Morgahn Fingall continued her strong start to the spring with a pair of double-digit kill outings against the Gators. The sophomore has scored 10-plus kills in four-straight matches. In the second match versus Florida, Fingall earned the first double-double of her career as she tallied 10 kills and 12 digs.
LILY (KILY) FELTS
Junior Lily Felts leads the Lady Vols in several categories, including kills (154), kills per set (3.58), attacks (402) and aces (8). She is second on the team in digs (129) and digs per set (3.00).
With a 3.58 kills per set mark, the Knoxville native ranks 10th in the SEC this season.
Felts is also on pace to finish top-10 in school history in single-season kills per set during the rally-scoring era.
SETTING 'EM UP
Setter Natalie Hayward has been key in the Lady Vol offense this season and is averaging 9.19 assists per set. The Bothell, Washington, native ranks eighth in the league in assists per set this year.
In the rally-scoring era, Hayward currently ranks eighth in single-season assists per set in program history.
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI STATE
The Bulldogs come to Knoxville sporting a 4-10 (4-10 SEC) record and on the heels of two consecutive losses on the road at Alabama. The Tide defeated MSU in four sets in both matches.
Gabby Waden has been the spark for the Bulldogs, hitting at a .321 clip and averaging 3.88 kills per set. She ranks seventh in the SEC in kills per set and 10th in hitting percentage. Waden is eighth in the league in points per set, averaging 4.13.
SERIES HISTORY
Tennessee leads the all-time series against Mississippi State 49-12 and has won five-straight meetings. Over the last 10 matchups, the Lady Vols lead 6-4.
