Lady Vols Fall in Series Finale to Arkansas in Four Sets

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Lady Vol volleyball team fell to Arkansas in four sets (21-25, 22-25, 25-17, 17-25) Sunday at Barnhill Arena.
Tennessee (9-7, 9-7 SEC) hit .285 and scored 50 kills, but was out-attacked by Arkansas (12-8, 12-8 SEC), who hit .304 and totaled 61 kills over the four sets.
Junior Lily Felts led the squad with 13 kills and a .300 hitting percentage. It is the 11th double-digit kill outing of the year for the Knoxville native.
Freshman Jasmine Brooks finished the match with 12 kills and a team-leading .357 hit percentage. The Toney, Alabama, native reached the 10-plus kill mark for the second consecutive match, following Saturday's 14-kill performance.
It's Brooks' sixth match with more than 10 kills.
Ava Bell and Danielle Mahaffey anchored the Lady Vols in the middle, combining for 17 kills and 13 total blocks. Bell notched eight kills on a .400 hitting percentage and tallied seven blocks Sunday – two solo and five assisted.
Mahaffey scored nine kills, hit .286 and assisted on six blocks.
Three Razorbacks scored double-digit kills led by Jillian Gillen with 20. She earned a double-double with 15 digs. Devyn Wheeler posted 12 kills on a team-high .444 hit percentage, while Maggie Cartwright equaled Wheeler with 12 kills.
After dropping the opening two sets, Tennessee fought back in the third, winning, 25-17. After the Lady Vols jumped out to an early lead, Arkansas fought back to tie the third at 12-12. From there on out, it was all Orange and White as UT pulled away to win the set.
In the fourth, Tennessee again took the early lead but was unable to sustain the momentum as Arkansas came back and took the lead at 14-13. Like UT in the third, Arkansas pulled away to win the set, 25-17, and earn the match victory three-sets-to-one.

Tennessee finishes off its four-match road swing at Alabama Friday and Saturday. Friday's meeting begins at 7 p.m. ET, while first serve on Saturday is slated for 3 p.m.
