Lady Vols Hogtie Razorbacks in Four-Set Victory

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lily Felts, Morgahn Fingall and Jasmine Brooks combine for 46 kills as the Lady Vol volleyball team defeats Arkansas in four sets (18-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-21) Saturday at Barnhill Arena.
Tennessee (9-6, 9-6 SEC) hit .306 on the day, scored 61 kills, four service aces and blocked eight total attacks. Arkansas (11-8, 11-8 SEC) hit just .184 with 47 kills and committed 20 errors.
The victory is head coach Eve Rackham Watt's 50th of her career and she becomes the second-fastest Tennessee volleyball head coach to reach the 50-win milestone in program history. Rackham Watt needed just 75 matches to reach the 50-win mark.
Felts and Fingall tied for the team-lead in kills Saturday with each putting away 16. Brooks was just behind, scoring 14 kills. In addition to her 16 kills, Felts earned her seventh double-double of the year with 12 digs against Arkansas.
The Knoxville native also notched a pair of block assists in the match.
Fingall hit .286 during the match, recorded seven digs and tallied two block assists as well. The Fairfax, Virginia, native also set a career-high with three service aces. For Fingall, it is her seventh consecutive match with 10-plus kills.
Brooks had a stellar match, hitting a career-high .306 en route to her 14 kills. The freshman outside blocked an attack and recorded four digs to add to her night's work.
In the middle, Ava Bell and Danielle Mahaffey gave the Razorbacks fits. Bell tallied eight kills on an .800 hit percentage and earned two solo blocks and one assisted block on the night. Her partner in the middle, Mahaffey, scored five kills and contributed five block assists.
Setter Natalie Hayward dished out 47 assists in the win, dropped in two kills, two service aces and picked up her seventh double-double of the season with 11 digs.
The opening set was back-and-forth at the start, but Arkansas gained control of the set late and was able to pull away for the first set win. The Lady Vols hit back in the second, winning the set with the aid of a 6-0 run to close it out.
Tennessee took total control of the third set going on runs of 7-1 and 7-0 to jump out to a 17-7 lead. UT ended the third with a 6-1 run.
The fourth and final set was more evenly matched, but still went the Lady Vols way as they used a 6-1 run in the middle of the set to give themselves some breathing room with a 12-7 lead. Arkansas closed to within three points late in the set, but was unable to slow down UT as it took the fourth set and match victory.
