Volleyball Preview: Tennessee Hosts #8 Florida in Second Spring Series

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Following last week's series postponement at Ole Miss, the Lady Vol volleyball team is back in action Thursday and Friday as they host No. 8 Florida at Thompson-Boling Arena.
First serve on Thursday is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET, while Friday's match gets underway at 1 p.m.
BROADCAST INFO
Thursday's match will be available to live stream on SEC Network+, with Will Boling (play-by-play) and J Hames (color) describing the action. Friday's match will be broadcast on SEC Network.
Paul Sunderland (play-by-play) and Jenny Hazelwood (color) will be the crew calling the match Friday.
LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee last played matches on February 12 and 13 against then 16th-ranked Missouri. The Lady Vols won both matches, winning match one in five sets before sweeping Mizzou in match two.
Natalie Hayward was named the SEC Player and Setter of the Week for her performances against the Tigers, registering 86 assists, while averaging 10.75 assists per set. In match one, she set a career-high with 54 assists. Her efforts helped UT hit .300 on the weekend.
MO FEELING IT
Morgahn Fingall had a standout weekend against Missouri as she led UT in kills at 29. She notched 13 kills in the opening match, before setting a career-high in kills with 16 in match two.
WINDICATORS
In the Eve Rackham Watt era, UT is 32-2 when it hits .250 or better. In 2020-21, the Lady Vols are 6-0 when they reach the .250 mark.
SCOUTING FLORIDA
The Gators enter the series ranked No. 8 in the nation and boasting a 10-2 record. Like UT, Florida has only played one series this spring, defeating LSU at home 3-0 and 3-1.
Tennessee and Florida have three common opponents – Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina. Both teams swept Auburn on the road and both split their series against UGA and South Carolina.
Florida is led offensively by T'ara Ceasar who is averaging 4.05 kills per set this season. Thayer Hall is not too far behind her teammate as she averages 3.56 kills per set. Marlie Monserez is in charge of running the Gator attack and averages 10.35 assists per set.
