Doubles Pair Executes Comeback, Monday Advances in Singles for Vols in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – A dramatic victory in doubles by senior Emile Hudd and freshman Shunsuke Mitsui, along with a straight-sets victory for 2021 ITA All-American Johannus Monday highlighted the second day of main draw action at the ITA All-American Championships for the Tennessee men's tennis team Thursday.
Monday, the nation's sixth-ranked singles player, breezed through the first set of his round of 32 singles match against #27 Florian Broska (Mississippi State), taking set one, 6-1. He then fended off Broska in a second set tiebreak situation, winning 7-6(5) as he handled business in straight sets.
Thursday evening saw the nation's 48th-ranked doubles pair of Hudd and Mitsui take down Ole Miss' Reynolds/Lithen in dramatic fashion, advancing to the quarterfinals with a 5-7, 7-6(5), 11-9 victory.
Down 8-2 in the third-set super tiebreaker, the Big Orange duo roared back and fought off five match point situations to claim the tiebreak, 11-9.
In main draw singles consolation, senior and 29th-ranked Martim Prata fell to No. 30 Tyler Zink of Oklahoma State, 5-7, 5-7.
