KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women's tennis team collected their third-straight win of the 2021 campaign on Monday, downing Furman 5-2.
Tennessee (3-0) started fast, collecting the doubles point over the Paladins (0-2) by winning two-of-three matches.
The junior duo of Rebeka Mertena and Julie Ball won the first match of the day over MaryAnn Rompf and Georgie Walker 6-2.
On court two, junior Daria Kuczer and freshman Esther Adeshina earned the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Madison Dillon and Ellie Schoppe.
In singles play, the Lady Vols won four-of-six matches.
Senior Tenika McGiffin was dominant the first singles win of the day, downing Dillion 6-0, 6-1 on court three. The Brisbane, Australia product holds a perfect 3-0 record in dual match play this season.
Mertena collected the Lady Vols third point of the day with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Julia Adams on court two. Kuczer followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rompf to clinch the match at 4-0.
Sophomore Callie Creath gave UT a 5-0 lead with a three-set victory over Schoppe on court five to collect the final win of the day for the Big Orange.
Up next, the Lady Vols will travel to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
