Vol Throwers Post Three Podium Finishes At Doc Hale Elite Meet

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- A trio of Tennessee track & field throwers earned top-three finishes this weekend at the Doc Hale Elite Meet, highlighting six Vols in action at Virginia Tech's Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Virginia.

UT took the top two spots in the men's shot put competition on Saturday, as Jordan West and Joseph Maxwell placed first and second, respectively. West logged a throw of 18.99m (62-3.75), while Maxwell went 18.70m (61-4.25) as the Volunteer duo topped opponents from Campbell, Duke, East Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia Tech.

In the men's weight throw on Friday night, junior Georgios Korakidis took a runner-up finish with a heave of 20.80m (68-3). The Kilkis, Greece, native has placed third or better in all four of his weight throw competitions this season.

UP NEXT: Tennessee will send a full squad to Clemson, South Carolina, next week to close out the regular season at the Tiger Paw Invitational. The competition is set to run Friday through Saturday, February 14-15 at the Clemson Indoor Track Complex.
