February 15, 2020 | Track & Field
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Less than 24 hours after recording the current world No. 1 performance in the men's long jump (8.16m / 26-9.25), Vol sophomore Carey McLeod posted another impressive showing in the triple jump Saturday at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational. On his first attempt of the day, the Kingston, Jamaica, native went 16.68 meters (54-8.75) for the No. 2 mark in the NCAA and No. 12 mark in the world this season.
Â
McLeod's distance of 16.68m was the best indoor triple jump performance by a Vol in 33 years, when John Tillman went 16.76m (55-0) at the 1987 SEC Indoor Championships. McLeod now ranks as the No. 3 triple jump performer in school history with his mark on Saturday.
Â
For the meet, Tennessee athletes combined for a total of 31 indoor personal records, 16 top-5 finishes and eight marks that ranked inside the program's all-time top 10 lists. Read below for more highlights from Saturday afternoon at Clemson.
