Men’s Golf Central: Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate
October 24, 2020 | Men's Golf
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's golf team travels to the mid-state for its second tournament of the fall, competing in the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate in Franklin, Tennessee.
The tournament's opening round is set to take place on Sunday with one round of competition on both Monday and Tuesday.
Like the Vols' opening tournament of the fall at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, the event is set to feature all 14 SEC teams, but unlike the Blessings, it will return to the traditional format of golfers competing in groups of three rather than as one five-man unit.
The tournament is scheduled to be contested at the Vanderbilt Legends Club's North Course. In April of 2019, the Vols competed in the Mason Rudolph Collegiate at the club's South Course – finishing in third place out of 17 teams.
Tennessee opened its fall schedule earlier this month at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, finishing in second place. Hunter Wolcott and Bryce Lewis both finished in the top five individually for the Vols.
The Vols' second-place finish marked the program's 10th time finishing inside the top three of a tournament under the direction of head coach Brennan Webb, who is just one tournament into his third season at the helm of the program.
THE VOLS' LINEUP
Hunter Wolcott
Wolcott led the way for the Vols during the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, shooting 4-under and tying for second place overall. He was just two strokes away from the individual title. It marked the fifth career top-five finish for the 2019 Second Team All-SEC selection and boosted his PGA Tour University rank to No. 17 overall.
Bryce Lewis
Lewis recorded his highest career finish during Tennessee's opening fall tournament, shooting 3-under and tying for fourth place overall. Lewis shot par or better during all three rounds during the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Brayden Garrison
Garrison registered his 14th career top-25 finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, shooting 4-over and tying for 21st place. It marked his highest finish since tying for 10th place at the Intercollegiate at the Grove in October 2019.
Rhys Nevin
Nevin, an All-America Honorable Mention and Second Team All-SEC selection last season, shot 13-over 229 at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational and tied for 51st place.
Spencer Cross
Tennessee's other All-America Honorable Mention and Second Team All-SEC selection last season, Cross opened the fall by tying for 55th place at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, carding a 15-over 231.
