Three Vols Have Perfect Starts on Friday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The third weekend of action for the Tennessee men's tennis program began on Friday with 11 players in tournaments at Princeton, Milwaukee and South Carolina.
PRINCETON FARNSWORTH-IVY PLUS
Redshirt freshman Mason Meier got off to a fast start as he went 3-for-3 on Friday. Meier won his singles match over Penn State's Chikaya Sato, 6-3, 6-4. In doubles, he paired with Constantin Zoske and took both matches they played. The pairing defeated Gollin/Lui, 8-4, before knocking off Aggarwal/Perotti, 8-1.
Jordan Chrysostom and Scott Jones matched as doubles partners at Princeton, going 1-1 on the day. The duo met No. 9 David Horneffer/Charlie Broom, defeating the Dartmouth pair, 8-5. Chrysostom/Jones dropped their second match of the day, 4-8.
In singles, Chrysostom played just once, defeating Eero Vasa, 6-4, 6-4. Likewise, Jones played only one singles match Friday, picking up a, 6-4, 6-0, win over Evan Bynoe.
Rounding out the Princeton group, Giles Hussey and Finn Stodder won both of their doubles matches. The UT pair defeated Litsky/Mu, 8-4, then moved on to knock off Graziani/Parikh, 8-4. Stodder dropped his singles match, 1-6, 2-6, to Vikash Singh while Hussey fell in his singles match to Dan Martin, 1-6, 6-4, 6-7 (5).
MILWAUKEE CLASSIC
In the Milwaukee Classic, sophomore Pat Harper took each of his opening matches. In doubles he matched up with UT teammate Mark Wallner to defeat Schaber/Gamerov, 8-5. In singles, Harper met Enrique Rico from Pepperdine, beating him in two sets, 6-1, 7-5.
Senior Luca Wiedenmann split on his opening day, winning in singles but falling with Martim Prata in doubles. The Munich, Germany native defeated Bill Duo, 6-2, 6-2, in singles while taking on USC's Bulis/Frye pairing with Prata in doubles. Bulis/Frye defeated Wiedenmann/Prata, 9-7.
Prata fell in his singles match to Alvaro Horta, 4-6, 2-6. Meanwhile, Wallner met Maxime Lapraille in singles, falling, 3-6, 6-7 (4).
GAMECOCK FALL INVITATIONAL
Down in South Carolina, Adam Walton picked up two victories, advancing to the semifinals. The junior opened with a two-set win over Alejandro Requant-bicardi, 6-2, 6-1. In his second match of the day, Walton defeated Franco Aubone, 6-1, 6-0. Walton is now 9-1 on the year and will face Siddhant Banthia on Saturday in the semifinal round.
Andrew Rogers opened his fall season in South Carolina, dropping both of his singles matches. He fell to Yuval Solomon, 2-6, 4-6, and to the Gamecocks' Daniel Rodrigues, 6-7 (4), 3-6.
All 11 Vols will be in action again on Saturday.
