Vols in the NFL Week Two Recap
September 17, 2019 | Football
NFL Week Two did not disappoint with Tennessee alum adding more tallies to the stat sheets.
VFL Jason Witten, a tight end for the Dallas Cowboys, continues to challenge the limits of NFL career lifespans, as the 16-year veteran has contributed to each of the Cowboys' wins so far this season. Sunday, Witten pulled in a short two-yard catch for the go-ahead touchdown against the Redskins to clip a 7-7 score and push the Cowboys ahead the remainder of the game. It marked his second touchdown of the season, in as many games, to punctuate a four-reception outing.
Offensively, VFL's Alvin Kamara, running back for the New Orleans Saints, and Cordarrelle Patterson, a Chicago Bears receiver, put down respectable yardage. Kamara finished with 60 total yards against the LA Rams while Patterson exploded on a 46-yard rush to put the Bears just outside the Broncos' red zone and set them up for the first touchdown of a closely-contested 16-14 win. He finished with 50 yards.
On the other side of the ball, Cameron Sutton recorded three tackles, one for loss as the Pittsburgh Steelers fell just short against the Seahawks. Philadelphia Eagles defensive end and VFL Derek Barnett added two tackles, one for loss, while Kyle Phillips made his NFL debut with the New York Jets under the bright lights of Monday Night Football and recorded two tackles.
