Tennessee travels to Champaign, Illinois for the second match in the home-and-home series with the Fighting Illini
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 19 University of Tennessee volleyball begins a three-week road stretch with a rematch against No. 6 Illinois in Champaign, Illinois on Sunday.
The Lady Vols are coming off a home match against a NCAA Final Four team in 2018, Illinois. Tennessee fell to the Fighting Illini in a five-set battle in Knoxville in the first match in the home-and-home series.
In the opening match of the weekend, 2018 AVCA First Team All-American Jacqueline Quade led the Fighting Illini with a new career-high 31 kills on 85 swings in the match. Last season, Illinois was a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Final Four.
The first serve of the match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (ET) in Champaign, Ill. with the match airing on Big Ten Network.
1,000 KILL CLUB
Tennessee senior Tessa Grubbs recorded her 1,000th kill in the third set of the Illinois matach on August 30.
Grubbs becomes the 22nd player in program history to record a 1,000 kills. She finished the night with a new career-high 29 kills on a new career-high 85 attacks.

Rocky Top showed out on Friday, August 30 against No. 6 Illinois. Vol Nation set a new program attendance record when 3,342 fans showed up at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The previous record was set when the Lady Vols took on Georgia on Oct. 28, 2005 in front of 3,311 in Thompson-Boling.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Senior setter Sedona Hansen recorded her first double double of the season with 47 assists and 29 digs in a loss to No. 6 Illinois on August 30. She is fourth all-time in program history in career double doubles with 48 just 14 matches off the all-time program record.
She currently ranks ninth all-time in career assists with 2,586 while ranking 22nd in digs with 901. Hansen is just 99 digs away from becoming just the third player in Tennessee history to have 2,000-plus assists and 1,000-plus digs.
DIGGING FIEND
Junior Madison Coulter opened the season tying her career-high in digs with 29. She previously set the record last season in the NCAA First Round in the five-set win against Colorado State.
Coulter also tied her career-high in assists of six in the loss to the Illini. She previously had six assists in the 2018 NCAA Second Round match against No. 19 Washington State.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Tennessee is one of just five programs in the nation to start the season with three matches against teams who finished the 2018 season in the Top 25 in RPI. The Lady Vols open with a home-and-home series against Illinois who finished No. 2 in the RPI.
Cincinnati, who finished No. 24 in the RPI, is Tennessee's next opponent at the Spartan Invitational next weekend in East Lansing, Michigan.

The Lady Vols will travel to East Lansing, Michigan for the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State. The field will include Cincinnati, Miami (OH) and Michigan State next weekend.
