Seggern Named to SEC Community Service Team
May 08, 2019 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --Â Tennessee third baseman Chelsea Seggern was named to the 2019 SEC Community Service Team as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Seggern, who earns the honor for the first time in her career, joins 12 other representatives from the conference's 13 teams.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 conference sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Seggern serves as a mentor for the Vols HELP (healthy eating, living and playing) program at Pond Gap Elementary School while also being involved with the annual Voloween, community holiday meal and Martin Luther King Jr. Day March.
Over the summer, the junior was part of the VOLeaders Academy Class that traveled to Ecuador. While there, Seggern co-hosted sports festivals for athletes with disabilities and helped lead sports clinics for elementary school children in a lower-economic community.
A current VolScholar and member of SAAC, Seggern is a two-time Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete and earned NFCA All-Region accolades in 2018.
