Five Lady Vols Earn SEC Accolades

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference announced its annual softball awards to cap the 2019 season and kick off the SEC Softball Tournament in College Station, Texas, on Tuesday and Tennessee had five players earn SEC honors.
The Lady Vols' Ashley Rogers earned First Team All-SEC accolades, while Aubrey Leach and Jenna Holcomb were tabbed Second Team All-SEC. Holcomb was also selected to the All-Defensive Team for her play in left field. Kaitlin Parsons and Kaili Phillips earned All-Freshman Team recognition.
Rogers is having a stellar freshman season that has seen her lead the SEC in conference wins with 10 and become the first Tennessee freshman since Ellen Renfroe in 2011 to throw six shutouts. The Athens, Tenn., was also recently named to the Schutt Sports/NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 25 List. She is the first freshman to earn First Team honors since Annie Aldrete was tabbed First Team All-SEC in 2014.
Earning her second-career All-SEC honor, Leach enters the postseason as Tennessee's all-time leader in runs scored and walks. She is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and currently leads the Orange and White with a .400 batting average, 60 hits and 58 runs scored.

Like Leach, Holcomb also earned All-SEC Second Team honors and was named to the All-SEC Defensive Team. She is the first player since Meghan Gregg in 2017 to be named to the All-Defensive Team and just the second Tennessee outfielder as Kat Dotson earned the recognition in 2010 and 2013.Â

Enjoying a breakout freshman campaign, Parsons has emerged as the Lady Vols' designated player. She's hitting .373 with 28 hits and 26 runs scored. She also owns seven RBI and was chosen as SEC Freshman of the Week earlier this season.Â
Phillips is also enjoying a standout first season as she ranks second on the squad with 10 home runs and third with 34 RBI.Â

The All-SEC Teams consist of 30 total student-athletes, along with a 13-member All-Freshman team and a 10-member All-Defensive Team.
