Leach Signs with Scrap Yard Fast Pitch
May 31, 2019 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee infielder Aubrey Leach signed with Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, an independent women's professional softball team, the Conroe, Texas based organization announced this week.
"I am so excited to be a part of the SYFP family," Leach said. "I can't thank Scrap Yard enough for allowing me to continue my softball career, as well as furthering my dream of playing at the professional level."
An All-American while at Tennessee, Leach recently finished her Lady Vol career as the program's all-time leader in runs scored and walks. She posted a .411 batting average with 72 hits, 23 RBI and 65 runs scored this season and was the only Lady Vol to start all 60 games.
As a junior, Leach set the Tennessee single-season runs record, crossing the plate 80 times at an average of 1.31 runs per game.
"Scrapyard is fortunate to sign a player with Aubrey's many talents," co-head coach Karen Weekly said. "She is one of the most versatile players I have ever coached, both offensively and defensively. Her high softball IQ allows her to process and play the game at a speed faster than most. She is a leader and will be a great role model for Scrapyard in the Houston community. Ralph and I are extremely proud to see her take her game to the next level."
Originally from The Woodlands, Texas, Leach will play for Scrap Yard Fast Pitch just 11 miles from her hometown and will become the 18th Lady Vol to play at the professional level.
