No. 8 Tennessee Falls to No. 16/22 UGA in Series Finale, 8-0

ATHENS Ga. -- No. 8 Tennessee fell to No. 16/22 UGA, 8-0, in the Game 3 rubber match on Sunday, dropping the series to the Bulldogs after splitting a Saturday doubleheader.
Despite the score, the Lady Vols and Bulldogs played a close, 3-0 game until the sixth inning when Georgia plated five runs to run-rule UT.
Junior pitcher Caylan Arnold was charged with the loss after limiting UGA to just three runs on six hits and an error through 4.0 innings of work. She fanned one batter in the outing before handing the ball over to Matty Moss. The Greenville, S.C., tossed 1.2 innings of relief and gave up five runs on four hits while striking out two.
The Bulldogs put a runner on third in the first inning, but couldn't scratch a run across until the second. Lacey Fincher led off with a single and Tyler Armistead walked two batters later to set up a two-RBI double by Jordan Doggett to put UGA ahead, 2-0.
Arnold then dueled two scoreless innings for UT, including a three-up, three-down fourth frame, before Georgia extended its advantage to 3-0 in the fifth on two hits and a 1-3 groundout. Moss saw her first action of the contest in the fifth inning and recorded a strikeout to end the stanza.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs' first three batters reached on a free pass and two hits to load the bases. UGA's Justice Milz then drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a 4-0 game before Alysen Febrey hit a walk-off grand slam to end the game early.
Tennessee had runners reach base in five of the six innings and moved them into scoring position during the third frame.
With one out in the third, Jenna Holcomb laid a bunt down to the pitcher and beat the throw at first. She then stole second before Aubrey Leach walked in the next at-bat. Kaitlin Parsons' groundout to first moved the duo to second and third before a fly ball to right ended the UT threat.
Overall, Tennessee was led at the plate by Katie Weimer (1-for-1) and Parsons (2-for-3).
