Lady Vols start postseason play tomorrow morning at the conference championship in Birmingham, Ala.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Tennessee women's golf team begins postseason play at the Southeastern Conference Championships this weekend in Birmingham, Ala.
The field features 14-team field with the Lady Vols entering as one of 11 in the top-50 ranked teams in the latest GolfStat rankings.
Tennessee enters this weekend ranked as the No. 35 team in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
The Lady Vols have finished fifth or better nine times in the Judi Pavon era while finishing third or better five times.
Last season, the Championships shifted to a new format, which features three rounds of medal play to determine the eight teams that advance to match play. The three rounds of medal play will also determine the individual SEC Champion.
The top eight teams will take part in a match play with the SEC Team Champion crowned at Greystone Golf and Country Club on Sunday.
Junior Micheala Williams leads Tennessee into her third SEC Championships. As a freshman, Williams tied for seventh in the event, carding a score of 212 (-4) while shooting par or better in each round.
Williams enters as one of just four players in the conference this season to have multiple tournament wins, both coming this spring. The Athens, Ala. native has claimed two tournament titles in the last three events with a win at the Florida Gators Invitational and tying for first at the Clemson Invitational.
Sophomores Mariah Smith and Waverly Whiston joined her in the top 25 at the Clemson Invitational, last week. Smith placed seventh in the event, shooting 5-under-par over 36 holes of play while Whiston tied for 18th at 1-under-par for the tournament.
Senior Ariana Macioce joins Whiston and Williams as the third Lady Vol to play in the SEC Championship lineup last season. Macioce recorded her highest finish of her junior season in Birmingham, Ala. last season, tying for 27th. Heading into the postseason, Macioce holds seven top-25 finishes this season.
Tomorrow's first round is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. (ET) at Greystone Golf and Country Club. Tennessee will be paired with Georgia and Alabama, teeing off of hole No. 1.

Micheala Williams
The Athens, Ala. native comes into the SEC Championships with two wins in her last three events including tying for first in the final regular season event of the season at the Clemson Invitational. So far this spring, Williams holds a 70.46 stroke average with seven rounds in the 60s.
Mariah Smith
Smith is coming off her third top-25 finish of the spring, placing seventh at the Clemson Invitational. She ranks second on the team with nine rounds of par or better this season while also ranking second with three rounds in the 60s.
Waverly Whiston
Whiston is coming off her sixth top-25 finish of the season and the second in three events this spring. The sophomore carded a pair of par or better rounds at the Clemson Invitational to finish 1-under in a tie for 18th.
Mikayla Bardwell
Bardwell, who has played in the Tennessee lineup in every tournament during her freshman campaign, enters the SEC Championships second on the team in stroke average (73.46) and in top-10 finishes with five this season.

The senior has finished in the top-25 in seven of the last eight events, leading the team in top-25 finishes this season. Last season at the SEC Championships, Macicoe tied for 27th in the tournament, which was the highest finish of any Lady Vol player.
