Tennessee Cruises Past Middle Tennessee, 6-1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 15/19 Tennessee men's tennis team cruised through its Wednesday matinee against Middle Tennessee, winning the match 6-1, at Barksdale Stadium.
The Vols (9-1) took the doubles point over the Blue Raiders (8-7) in short order. Timo Stodder and Preston Touliatos teamed up in the No. 1 spot, winning 6-2. Playing in the No. 2 position was Andrew Rogers and Martim Prata, the duo sealed the doubles point by taking their match 6-4. Adam Walton and Pat Harper had an unfinished match in the third spot.
Scott Jones won the first singles point of the day 6-2, 6-3, over Tom Moonen in the third singles position. Walton, ranked No. 94 nationally in singles, gave the Vols a 3-1 lead with his singles victory over Gonzalo Morell 6-2, 6-3.
Luca Wiedenmann clinched the match for Tennessee, defeating Pavel Motl 6-2, 6-2.
Tennessee and Middle Tennessee played out the match with No. 113 Stodder winning on court one 6-0, 7-6 (7) over Stijn Slump. Martim Prata picked up the Vols sixth point with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Chris Edge on court five.
The lone loss for the Big Orange came on court four. Touliatos fell to Max Rauch 4-6, 6-2, 0-1 (8-10) as Middle Tennessee earned its only point of the match.
SERIES HISTORY: Tennessee is now 16-1 all-time against Middle Tennessee with the series dating back to 1963.
UP NEXT: The Vols will continue their homestand against Georgia on March 1 at 6 p.m.
