Stodder Shines at Samford Round Robin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee wrapped up day two action at the Samford Round Robin as freshman Finn Stodder picked up wins in singles and doubles.
The Berlin, Germany native continued his strong play down in Birmingham as he defeated Alabama's Riccardo Roberto in two sets. Stodder took down the Crimson Tide junior, 7-6 (5), 6-4. He is now 2-0 in singles at the Round Robin.
His solid play carried over into doubles where he paired with fellow freshman Jordan Chrysostom. The duo matched up against Tulane's Benji Jacobson and Akos Kotorman, defeating the Green Wave pair, 6-2.
In Chrysostom's singles match, he faced off against the Crimson Tide's Alexey Nesterov, falling in a three-set battle, 4-6, 6-4, 1-6. Mason Meier is the third member of the UT contingent down in Birmingham and played Marcelo Sepulveda Garza from Alabama. The redshirt freshman fell in two sets, 1-6, 4-6.
The Samford Round Robin is a mock dual tournament which puts players from one school against another specific school in each round of play. On Sunday, Tennessee will face Alabama in doubles and Middle Tennessee in singles.
