Tennessee Drops Four-Set Match at Georgia

Senior Sedona Hansen passes 1,000-career dig mark and enters top five all-time in assists in loss to the Bulldogs
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee volleyball team dropped a four-set match (16-25, 25-14, 25-27, 17-25) at Georgia Friday night in Stegeman Coliseum.
Senior setter Sedona Hansen crossed two career milestones in the the Lady Vols (7-6, 1-2 SEC) loss to the Bulldogs (10-4, 2-1 SEC). In the first frame of the match, Hansen entered the top five in career assists with her sixth assist of the match helping her tie former Lady Vol Lexi Dempsey (2013-15).
Early in the second set, Hansen recorded her fourth dig of the match and became the 16th Tennessee player in program history to record 1,000-plus career digs. She finished the match with her seventh double double of the season and third consecutive, tallying a team-high 25 assists while also having 11 digs.
After falling in the opening set of the match, the Lady Vols responded right back to run away with the second set. They were able to thwart the offense attack of the Bulldogs, allowing the SEC's third ranked team in kills per set to just three in the set. Georgia had a -.120 hitting percentage in the set while offensively Tennessee had a near flawless offensive attack.
Led by five kills from sophomore Lily Felts, UT had a .370 hitting percentage with 15 kills as it was able to knot up the match at a set a piece.
Tennessee nearly went 2-1 up in the match as they had three set point opportunities in the third set before Georgia came back to win the frame 27-25 in extra points. Again, the offensive attack was tough to stop for the Bulldogs as the Lady Vols finished the set with 16 kills and just one error en route to hitting .349 in the frame.
Senior Tessa Grubbs ended the match with a team-high 14 kills. She needs just 15 more kills to tie Kelsey Robinson (2011-12) for 15th on the all-time kills list with 1,205.
Standout Stat
The Lady Vols continue their road weekend, traveling to Auburn for a match on Sunday afternoon. Last season, Tennessee defeated the Tigers in four sets to open up SEC play.

- Hansen now just needs five assists to become the fourth member of the 3,000 assist and 1,000 dig club in program history. With her seventh double double of her career she needs just eight more to become the program's all-time leader.
- Junior libero Madison Coulter finished with a career-high eight assists in the match while also having a team-high 15 digs in the match. She was just two assists short of her thrid double double of her career.
- Freshman Morgahn Fingall ended the match hitting .500 while notching her fourth double-digit kill match of the season
- Sophomore Lily Felts recorded her first double double of the season posting 11 kills and eight digs
