Vols Close Opening Day of Samford Round Robin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee wrapped up day one at the Samford Round Robin with a 2-1 record against the Bulldogs.

Freshmen Finn Stodder and Jordan Chrysostom each won their singles bouts with Stodder defeating Rossouw Norval in two sets, 7-5, 6-4.

Chrysostom took down Max Rebol in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, rallying for the victory. Redshirt freshman Mason Meier fell to the Bulldog's Mohammed Ali Bellalouna in three, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6.

In doubles, Chrysostom and Stodder paired together and faced off against Middle Tennessee's Max Rauch and Francisco Rocha. The Volunteer pair fell to the Blue Raiders, 4-6.

The Samford Round Robin is a mock dual tournament which puts players from one school against another specific school in each round of play. On Saturday, Tennessee will face South Alabama in doubles and Alabama in singles.
