October 03, 2019 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn – The Tennessee softball team was heavily represented on the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes list with 11 Lad Vols earning honors for the 2018-19 season as announced by the organization recently.
UT honorees included Caylan Arnold, Tianna Batts, Haley Bearden, Cailin Hannon, Savannah Huffstetler, Aubrey Leach, Abby Lockman, Matty Moss, Kaitlin Parsons, Chelsea Seggern, and Ally Shipman. To be eligible for the recognition, nominees must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.
As a team, the Lady Vols finished with a 3.55 GPA, which tied for 21st of 140 NCAA Division I programs, the highest of any SEC program.
In 2019, the Lady Vols posted a 43-17 and were one-run shy of returning to the Women's College World Series after a closely-contested showing with the Florida Gators in the Gainesville Super Regional. The Lady Vols forced a rubber match into extra-innings before the Gators singled for the walk-off win. It marked the 11th Super Regional appearance in program history and the team's 16th consecutive post-season appearance.
