XC Central: Penn State National Open/Arturo Barrios Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee cross country teams are back in action this weekend, splitting up as the women compete at the Penn State National Open (University Park, Pa.) on Friday while the men will run the Arturo Barrios Invitational (College Station, Texas) on Saturday.

WHO'S RUNNING: Both teams will field squads of eight runners at the respective meets. See below for a breakdown of Tennessee's entries (subject to change):

Women's 6K - Penn State National Open - Friday, Oct. 18 - 10:45 a.m. ET
Men's 8K - Arturo Barrios Invitational - Saturday, Oct. 19 - 10 a.m. ET
LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee's women continued their successful campaign with a fourth-place finish out of 43 teams at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. The Lady Vols notably knocked off nationally ranked No. 27 Princeton and SEC rival Georgia, in addition to defeating Georgetown who was receiving votes in the USTFCCCA national poll. Senior captain Megan Murray logged a ninth-place outing individually, followed by Sydney Seymour and Katie Thronson who placed 13th and 25th respectively.

On the men's side, Tennessee placed 21st out of 44 teams competing in the men's college gold 8K with a total of 601 points. In a race of nearly 400 runners, Vol junior Alex Crigger led the Big Orange with a 55th-place outing individually as he clocked a time of 24:14.6.

UP NEXT: Following both meets this weekend, Tennessee will open postseason action at the SEC Championships. Kentucky will host the conference meet Friday Nov. 1, beginning at 9 a.m. in Lexington.
