ATLANTA – Tennessee's men's tennis program wrapped up day two action at the Georgia Tech Invitational Sunday and will see three of the four players at the tournament play in finals matches on Monday.
In singles, graduate transfer Giles Hussey won twice to advance to the finals of the White draw. No doubles matches were played Sunday but Pat Harper and Jordan Chrysostom had already clinched their spot in the finals of the Olde Gold doubles draw by winning two matches on Saturday.
In the White draw, Hussey defeated Vanderbilt's James Ignatowitch, 6-2, 6-1, in the quarterfinal round before besting Clemson's Teodor Giusca in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-2. He will face SEC rival, Davide Tortora from Mississippi State Monday for the championship of the White draw.
Freshman Jordan Chrysostom reached the semifinals in the Navy draw, winning his first match Sunday in two-sets over Brandon Freestone from Georgia Tech, 6-3, 6-3. The Bowie, Md., native faced Isaac Becroft of Mississippi State in the night cap, falling 6-1, 6-2. He will play against Georgia's Alex Phillips in Monday's the third place match.
Sophomore Pat Harper began his day facing Tortora in the quarterfinals of the White draw, falling to the Bulldog in three-sets, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6. His second singles match came against Vanderbilt's No. 125 George Harwell. The Aussie defeated Harwell in a three-set battle, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7, and will play another Commodore, Ignatowitch, Monday.
