KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee soccer team hits the road this weekend, seeking its third-straight SEC victory as the Vols visit the Missouri Tigers. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET Sunday at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium in Columbia, Mo.
Â
Sunday's match will be broadcast on SEC Network+, available online and through the ESPN app. Live stats will also be provided via SIDEARM Stats, and fans can follow @Vol_Soccer on Twitter for live match updates.
Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Vols (8-4-1, 2-3 SEC) won their second-straight SEC East matchup Thursday night, topping Georgia 1-0 in Knoxville. Senior forward MA Vignola tallied the game-winner on a penalty kick for her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Rookie goalkeeper Lindsey Romig logged her second consecutive solo shutout against the Bulldogs, hauling in three saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Â
TOP ROOKIE IN THE LEAGUE: Vol midfielder Isabella Cook was tabbed with SEC Freshman of the Week honors Monday afternoon. The Elmhurst, Ill. native scored the game-winner against Kentucky and dished out an assist to MA Vignola as the Vols earned their first conference win this season.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: Since Missouri joined the SEC in 2012, Tennessee holds a 5-1-1 record against the Tigers that includes three wins over the past three years. VFL Bunny Shaw has scored golden goals in each of the past two matchups with Missouri - a 3-2 win in Columbia in 2017 and 2-1 victory in Knoxville last year.
Â
SCOUTING MISSOURI: The Tigers (6-6-1, 0-4-1 SEC) enter Sunday's contest on a four-match losing streak under 24-year coaching veteran Bryan Blitz. Mizzou's attack is paced by senior forward Sarah Luebbert who leads the team with six goals and four assists.
Â
BURY THE PAST: Following a three-match losing skid to begin conference play, senior captain Maya Neal installed a relic within the program - bringing a shovel to practice to symbolize 'burying the past.' Since that practice, Tennessee has posted back-to-back shutout wins against Kentucky and Georgia.
Â
UP NEXT: Tennessee's road swing continues next Friday against league-leading South Carolina, who currently stands at the top of the SEC table with 15 points and a 5-0 conference record. The match is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 in Columbia, S.C.
