Vols Sit in Second after 36 Holes of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

Tennessee (-24) shoots second lowest round of the season and is just two shot back of the lead
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – After 36 holes of play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, the Tennessee men's golf team sits in second just two shots off the lead.

The Vols carded its second lowest round of the season on Saturday with a second round 279 (-9). For the second straight day, all four of the counted scores for Tennessee were under par including junior Spencer Cross who had a team-best 69 (-3) in the second round.

Cross, who carded his second round in the 60s this week, moved into the top five on the leaderboard, jumping up four spots into a tie for fourth. He is just one of five players in the 87-player field to have two rounds in the 60s.

Sunday he'll be in search of his second consecutive top-5 finish after tying for fourth at the Intercollegiate at the Grove earlier this week.

Redshirt junior Hunter Wolcott will also be in search of his second top-5 finish this week. He tied for second earlier this week in College Grove and is currently tied with Cross for fourth on the individual leaderboard.

Wolcott carded his fourth consecutive round of par or better in the second round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. He turned in a 70 (-2) with his scorecard including the first Vol eagle of the tournament.

Senior Rhys Nevin and redshirt junior Tyler Johnson also fired second round scores of 70 (-2).

The Vols enter the final round at 24-under-par and just two strokes back of host East Tennessee who leads the tournament at 26-under-par.

Tennessee will tee off the final round tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET. The Vols will be paired with ETSU (-26) and Louisville (-22) who are first and third, respectively.
