Tennessee Softball Announces Fall Schedule
September 07, 2018 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Softball announced its fall schedule on Friday afternoon. The Lady Vols will play eight games this fall, starting late September and concluding in mid-October.
Â
Seven of the eight games will take place at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium and all of these home games will be free to attend.
Â
The first game will start on Friday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. when the Lady Vols take on the Eagles of Carson-Newman.
Â
On Sept. 29, Tennessee will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. with ETSU and then at 3:30 p.m. against Chipola College.
Â
Chipola is a junior college located in northwest Florida and is coming off of a 56-4 season. The Lady Indians finished last season as NJCAA runners-up.
Â
Another doubleheader awaits Tennessee the following day. The Lady Vols  will pick up where they left off, facing the Lady Indians of Chipola before hosting the Pioneers of Vol State. The games will take place at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
Â
The lone away game will be played in Lexington, Ky., where UT will take on SEC rival Kentucky. This game will take place on Oct. 7 at 4:30 p.m. at John Cropp Stadium.
Â
Middle Tennessee travels east to take on the Lady Vols in Knoxville at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Â
To wrap up fall ball, the Lady Vols will face Kentucky for the second time on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. As part of the fall ball finale, both the Lady Vols and Wildcats will be teaming up to raise awareness for Rett Syndrome.
Â
Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder that affects approximately 1 in 8,500 girls, although the mutation can sometimes be found in boys as well. This disorder occurs because of a genetic mutation that develops usually within the first year or so after birth. This mutation impairs the child's language, motor skills and growth.

Â
The Lady Vols are coming off a stellar 2018 season where they finished No. 10 in the final polls. Last season marked the sixth time in seven years where Tennessee has advanced to the Super Regionals.
Â
The Lady Vols also have the second-ranked recruiting class in the nation joining the squad this year. Highly talented freshmen Ally Shipman and Ashley Rogers are expected to make a big impact for Tennessee.
