Lady Vols sweep the weekend with three set win over Chattanooga

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – For the fourth consecutive season, the University of Tennessee swept the opening weekend with a 3-0 victory over UT-Chattanooga.
The Lady Vols moved to 3-0 on the season with the help of another solid offensive performance. Tennessee posted a hitting percentage of .386 in the match with freshman Lily Felts and junior Tessa Grubbs tallying double-digit kills.
After closing out the first set 25-17, Tennessee started out the second frame on an 8-0 with freshman Lily Felts on serve. The Lady Vols stretched the lead 12-1 to take total control of the match. Felts finished the match with a team and season-high 13 kills adding an ace and block to her line.
Senior Erica Treiber who finished the match with seven kills making it 34 in total for the tournament. Treiber was named tournament MVP while Felts and Grubbs joined her on the all-tournament team.

The Lady Vols hold serve at home again next weekend as they play host to Winthrop, North Florida and Indiana State in the Rocky Top Invitational.
Tennessee will face Winthrop Friday night at 7:00 p.m. (ET) in Thompson-Boling arena to kick-off the tournament. The game will also air on SEC Network+.

Standout Stat:
- The Lady Vols move to 19-0 all-time in the Tennessee Classic capturing the title for the sixth time in program history (1983, 1988, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018).
- Lily Felts recorded seven kills on eight swings in the first set of the match. She finished with a game and season-high 13 kills on the night.
- With 15 digs in the match, Brooke Schumacher is now 14 digs away from cracking the top 10 for career digs in Tennessee history.
- Tessa Grubbs recorded double-digit kills in each of the three matches to help her earn all-tournament honors. She tallied 41 kills on the weekend to lead the team.
