KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee volleyball opened up the Eve Rackham era in historic fashion defeating its first ranked opponent since the 2016 season.
In front of a crowd of 2,301 at Thompson-Boling Arena, the Lady Vols took down No. 22 Michigan State in four sets.
In the final frame, Tennessee trailed 23-21 before rattling off the final four points to capture the victory. That run included Erica Treiber's 19th of the match.
The Michigan native led the Lady Vols with a career-high 19 kills, hitting .432 for the match. Junior Tessa Grubbs added 15 kills from the left pin.

The Lady Vols close out the Tennessee Classic tomorrow with a pair of matches in Thompson-Boling Arena.

- Erica Treiber set a new career-high in kills with 19. Her previous career-high was 17 kills set in 2016 against South Carolina.
- Tennessee came out firing in the first set finishing with a .394 hitting percentage converting 17 kills on 33 swings.
- Freshman Lily Felts nearly posted a double-double in her first career match. The Knoxville native tallied 11 kills and nine digs.
