August 18, 2018 | Volleyball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee volleyball team opened the Eve Rackham era with a win over in-state Lipscomb University Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.
After trailing 2-1 heading into the fourth set, Tennessee battled back to claim the final two frames to beat the Bisons.
Trailing 4-3 in the fifth set, the Lady Vols went on a 7-2 run which included a few kills from junior Tessa Grubbs. From there, Tennessee held the lead throughout the rest of the set. Grubbs closed out the match when junior Sedona Hansen found her on the left pin. She hammered it past the block to seal the victory.
Sophomore Addisyn Rowe and freshmen Lily Felts and Danielle Mahaffey each saw their first action for the Lady Vols in the win over Lipscomb.
From Coach Rackham
On the play of the newcomers to the team:
"They had a great match for sure. They have learned a lot and developed a lot over the last two weeks. They are doing the things we ask them to do. They are finding things that give them success and we want them to keep repeating those," – Coach Eve Rackham
