Tennessee Falls To Florida, 6-1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- No. 25 Tennessee suffered its first SEC loss of the season on Sunday, a 6-1 road defeat to No. 18 Florida at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
The Vols (11-3, 1-1 SEC) could not overcome three top-10 ranked pairings to collect the doubles point, and dropped singles matches on Courts 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the loss.
25th ranked junior Timo Stodder did have a strong showing in singles, as he took down No. 10 Alfredo Perez 6-1, 6-1 on Court 1. However, the rest of the day was all Gators (7-4, 2-0 SEC), as Preston Touliatos, Luis Valero and Nicaise Muamba lost in straight sets while Adam Walton lost in three sets and Scott Jones dropped a super tiebreak by a score of 10-4.
"We gotta play a little stronger across the board," head coach Chris Woodruff said after the match. "Collectively as a group, we didn't fire on all cylinders. Certain spots were better than others. We just go back to work and we'll go from there."
UP NEXT: The Vols return to Knoxville for three home matches next weekend. UT will take on NC State on Friday, then play LSU and Austin Peay State on Sunday afternoon.
