Tennessee's 3V8 finished third out of seven teams in the Women's Open Carley Copley Cup with a time of 7:29.563. California won the event at 6:51.990 and Stanford took second at 7:06.531. SDSU, Kansas State, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara rounded out the field.
"The San Diego Crew Classic marks the end of the early season for us," said head coach Lisa Glenn. "Our team brought first day energy to the racing today, bolstering overall performance. So far we've found moments of speed and minutes of real investment in each other. Our overall commitment to each other and consequent execution of the actual race need more development as we move into mid-season, but out staff is seeing 'lightbulb' moments occur with several members of the team. As others join in, the effect on our team can be a major positive influence. We are looking forward to meeting mid-season head-on and - most of all - together."
Next Up: The Vols will compete in the Big 12 Double Dual in Lawrence, Kansas against Kansas, Kansas State and Alabama on April 7.
