KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- No. 22 Tennessee picked up a home SEC win in dominant fashion on Saturday, defeating LSU 6-1 at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The Vols (12-4, 2-1 SEC) took the doubles point for the second consecutive match, as the 73rd ranked pairing of Preston Touliatos and Luis Valero earned a deciding 7-3 victory in a tiebreaker. Timo Stodder and Adam Walton won their match 6-4 on Court 2, while Andrew Rogers and Nicaise Muamba fell on Court 3, 6-3.
Scott Jones earned the next point for UT with a 6-2, 6-2 singles victory over Nikola Samardzic on Court 5. Senior Luis Valero quickly followed that up with a 7-5, 6-2 win of his own, before Nicaise Muamba clinched the match for the Vols at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Agie Moreno to down the Tigers (8-6, 1-3 SEC).
20th ranked Timo Stodder improved his winning streak in singles to three matches with a 6-3, 6-2 win on Court 1. Preston Touliatos earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 to increase the point total on the day to six for UT.
