Lady Vols to Hold Free Clinic for Fans on October 14
October 03, 2018 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee softball team will hold a free 45-minute clinic prior to their final fall ball game against Kentucky on October 14 starting at 1 p.m. The game, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., is free and open to the public.
Â
Clinic fun begins at 1 p.m. with Tennessee and Kentucky players offering instruction in softball fundamentals, followed by the Lady Vols versus Wildcats game. The clinic is open to all girls in grades 1st – 7th and is limited to the first 100 that register. Fans can sign up by clicking HERE to reserve their spot for a chance to learn from the best and help both teams OVERPOWER RETT!
Â
The Tennessee and Kentucky softball programs are partnering this fall to OVERPOWER RETT by playing to bring awareness to Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a rare non-inherited genetic postnatal neurological disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child's life: their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily.
Â
The hallmark of Rett Syndrome is near constant repetitive hand movements while awake. Cognitive assessment in children with Rett Syndrome is complicated, but we know that they understand far more than they can communicate to us, evidenced by their bright and attentive eyes, and their ability to express a wide spectrum of moods and emotions.Â
