BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Redshirt-senior midfielder Meghan Flynn has been named to the 2018 SEC Community Service Team, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each respective institution who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

The organization uses the sport of soccer as a tool to educate, guide and empower local underprivileged students. Bi-weekly activities include soccer lessons, games, mentoring sessions and teamwork building exercises, with the ultimate goal of teaching the participants academic and life skills.
Â
An Arlington, Va. native, Flynn also serves as a member of Tennessee's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), helping plan service projects as part of the community service sub-committee last semester. She has volunteered at events such as the Race Against Racism 5K and MLK Day Parade, in addition to serving a Holiday Meal for the Homeless the past four years.
Flynn is currently a Social Media/Marketing Officer for SAAC, and is also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity at Tennessee. She served on the Community Service Committee for that group during 2017-18 academic year. With Election Day coming soon, Flynn has additionally been volunteering with a local political campaign in Knoxville.
Â
Flynn and Tennessee's six other seniors will be honored prior to Thursday night's match against Missouri. Kickoff for the regular-season finale is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Regal Soccer Stadium.
