KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women's tennis team returns to action this weekend, competing in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships hosted by the University of Chattanooga.

The 128-player singles and 64-team doubles tournament will be played at the Champions Club in Chattanooga from Thursday, Oct. 11 to Monday, Oct. 15, and admission is free for the event. Seven Lady Vols will compete in the tournament, which features 22 teams, in hopes of earning a bid to the inaugural Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

"I'm really looking forward to getting on the road today and heading to Chattanooga for the ITA Ohio Valley regional event," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "Our girls have been working hard in practice on some very specific goals so it will be fun to get out there and compete.

Tennessee will begin Thursday with three doubles pairs, all three of which will receive a bye through the round of 64. Ariadna Riley and Kaitlin Staines are the top seeded doubles pair, Sadie Hammond and Gabby Schuck are seeded third and Tenika McGiffin and Johanna Silva are seeded 13th.

In the B Flight doubles bracket, freshman Kylie Duckworth will make her Tennessee debut, partnered with Vanderbilt's Lauren Gish as the number one seeded team in the bracket.

In singles, Schuck (seeded 5th), Staines (6th), Hammond (7th), Riley (8th), McGiffin (24th) and Silva (29th) will all open play on Friday after receiving byes through the round of 128. Duckworth, the top seed in the B Flight bracket, will also start on Friday.

"When it's all said and done, we coach because we want to win at a very high-level," Ojeda said. "Our players play because they want to win at a high-level. It's time to roll up our sleeves and go play."
