Lady Vols Fall to No. 16 Kentucky in Four Sets

Tennessee one of two teams to take a set off of the nationally-ranked Wildcats in conference play
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The University of Tennessee volleyball team fell to No. 16 Kentucky in four sets Wednesday in Lexington, Ky.
This is the second time this season the Lady Vols (14-5, 5-2 SEC) have gone four sets with the nationally-ranked Wildcats. They are one of just two teams to take a set off of Kentucky (11-4, 5-0 SEC) in Southeastern Conference play.
Sophomore Callie Williams was one dig short of completing her first double-double of the season, finishing with a team-high 23 assists to go along with nine digs. SEC Freshman of the Week Lily Felts totaled a team-high eight kills while senior Erica Treiber, freshman Raquel Perinar and freshman Danielle Mahaffey recorded seven in the loss.
After dropping the first two sets, Tennessee took the third set (25-19) on a strong offensive performance from junior Alyssa Anderno. She would finish the third frame hitting .571 with four kills on seven attacks. Mahaffey also found the floor five times in the frame on nine swings.
After totaling two more kills in the four and final set, Mahaffey finished with a hitting percentage of .538 to lead the Lady Vols.

The Lady Vols will off for nine days before traveling to Texas A&M on Oct. 19. It will be the first match of the season between the Lady Volunteers and the Aggies.
First serve for the match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (ET) on SEC Network+.

- Freshman Danielle Mahaffey recorded a new season-high hitting percentage. She would hit .538 with seven kills on 13 attacks. It was the third match of the season Mahaffey had seven or more kills. She would also record three total blocks on the night.
- Erica Treiber made it six out of the last seven conference matches committing 2 or less errors. The senior has only committed nine total errors since the Lady Vols started conference play.
- Erica Treiber is now 16 blocks away from passing Ariana Wilson for fourth all-time in program history in career blocks.
- With seven digs in the match, Brooke Schumacher is now 31 digs away from tying Julie Knytych for eighth all-time in career digs.
