KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Volunteers will play host to Mississippi State on Sunday to wrap up the opening weekend of SEC play at Thompson-Boling Area.

Coming off a 3-0 loss Wednesday at Arkansas, the Big Orange (7-3, 0-1 SEC) take on Mississippi State (9-6, 0-0 SEC) on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

LAST WEEK

The Lady Vols went 3-0 at the Rocky Top Invitational. Tennessee defeated Marshall, USC Upstate and Furman to close out the non-conference season.
Erica Treiber and Alyssa Andreno were named to a second all-tournament team this season when they both were named to the Rocky Top Invite Team. Treiber was named MVP, while they both were named to the Tennessee Classic All-Tournament Team and Andreno was named MVP.
Sedona Hansen and Callie Williams now have had 10 or more assists in all 10 of the Lady Vols matches and averaged 5.17 and 5.08 assists, respectively, last week.

TOPS IN THE SEC

The Vols are ranked in the top five in the conference in two important categories with season averages: second in blocks (2.94 per set) and in opponent hitting percentage (.142).
Treiber, who has started every match as a middle hitter this season, ranks fifth in the SEC and 34th in the NCAA with 1.41 blocks per set.
Andreno ranks sixth in the SEC and 64th in the NCAA, averaging 1.25 blocks per set. She has recorded 41 total blocks so far this season.

THE FRESHMAN PHENOM

Freshman Callie Williams is proof that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree; she is the daughter of a volleyball coach in Jason Williams (assistant coach at Baylor) and a volleyball All-American in Cory Williams.
Cory (Sivertson) Williams played volleyball at Baylor, where she is the only volleyball player inducted into the Baylor Hall of Fame, ending her career holding 18 school records, many which still stand today as a setter.
Callie, also a setter, has 156 assists so far this season and is averaging 4.46 assists and 1.69 digs per set at this point in the season.

SETTING STATS

Hansen is climbing up the Tennessee career charts for total assists; she is currently 208 assists away from cracking the all-time career assist list for the Lady Vols. She has recorded 192 assists for an average of 5.49 per set and has had at least 10 assists in every match she has played in so far, this season.
Williams, like Hansen, is setting the standard as it relates to total assists, having recorded 156 for an average of 4.46 per set. She also has had 10 assists or more in all 10 of the Lady Vols' matches she has played in this season.
