Vols Roll to Winning Start at Florida, Princeton

All six members of the Tennessee men's tennis team competing this weekend picked up at least one victory to open the fall season Friday between play at the Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton and the Gator Ranked+1 at Florida.

In Florida, sophomore Scott Jones led the way with two ranked wins, defeating No. 105 Chase Perez-Blanco of Florida 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 in the first round and No. 62 Trey Yates of Kentucky 6-1, 6-7, 7-5 to reach the semifinals.

Freshmen Adam Walton and Andrew Rogers rolled out to winning starts to their collegiate careers at the Ivy Plus.

Walton secured a ranked win in his singles debut, defeating No. 100 Charlie Brown of Dartmouth 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3. He also reached the black draw doubles final with two wins alongside redshirt junior Preston Touliatos. Rogers beat Buffalo's Ethan Nittolo 6-2, 6-7(9), 6-3.

Touliatos won his first match in nearly a year after missing most of last season with injury, beating David Horneffer of Dartmouth 7-6, 6-2. Sophomore Luca Wiedenmann lost only three games in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Aron Sandberg of Brown.
