Men's Tennis Opens Fall at Princeton, Florida

The Tennessee men's tennis team opens the 2017 fall tournament season with a split weekend at the Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey, and the Gator Ranked+1 in Gainesville, Florida.

PRINCETON IVY PLUS: Redshirt junior Preston Touliatos, sophomore Luca Wiedenmann and freshmen Adam Walton and Andrew Rogers are starting the year at Princeton for the Vols.

Touliatos is back on the college courts after missing last season with injury. The native of Birmingham, Alabama, played at the No. 5 spot for the Vols as a sophomore in 2016. He is in the Cordish draw to start the fall, playing Dartmouth's David Horneffer.

Wiedenmann is back for his sophomore year after playing the No. 6 spot in the singles lineup and winning 17 matches for the Vols. He is in the Nassau draw and taking on Brown's Aron Sandberg.

Walton and Rogers are both poised to make their collegiate debuts. Walton, from Home Hill, Australia, was ranked as high at No. 60 in the ITF world junior rankings and won a pair of ITF international events. Rogers, from Brentwood, Tennessee, was the top in-state recruit and swiftly climbed the rankings after focusing on tennis full time.

Walton faces Charlie Broom of Dartmouth in the Tiger draw. Rogers plays Ethan Nittolo of Buffalo in the Lenz draw.

GATOR RANKED+1: Junior Timo Stodder, ranked 17th nationally, and sophomore Scott Jones, No. 121, will represent the Vols at the Gator Ranked+1.

Stodder looks to build on his All-SEC sophomore season. He is seeded No. 2 in flight 1, set to face North Florida's Lasse Muscheites in the first round. Jones, nationally ranked for the first time, is playing No. 105 Chase Perez-Blanco of Florida.

Stodder and Jones played doubles together a majority of last season and are joining forces again in the opening weekend. They are the fourth seeded of flight 1.
