- That Marshall match was the most points scored by a Tennessee team in the 25-point rally era.
- The Vols have never faced USC Upstate, and the last time they faced Furman was back before rally scoring and before the Rob Patrick era in 1993 in a Classic hosted by Tennessee.
- When Tennessee faced Furman last, they were playing volleyball in Alumni Memorial Gymnasium.

- Due to the threat of Hurricane Irma and the logistical challenges resulting from the storm, the matches were canceled.
- Tennessee was also scheduled to play at Kennesaw State on Sunday, but that match had to be canceled also due to Hurricane Irma.
