Kupritz Scores Game Winner After Re-Entering Game
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Thunderstorms delayed the game by two hours, but Tennessee finally opened the soccer season with a 1-0 late-night victory over Navy Glenn Warner Soccer Facility at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Redshirt senior Ariel Kupritz re-entered the game in the second half and scored less than a minute later, taking a loose ball and threading her way through defenders to score in the 57th minute.
Play was slow because of the wet conditions, but the Vols (1-0) dominated possession for much of the game, outshooting Navy 20 to 3. Redshirt freshman Erin Gilroy led Tennessee with four shots, including two headers that narrowly missed early in the second half.
Tennessee wraps up the weekend with a Sunday match at George Mason, kicking off at 2 p.m.

- Tennessee Debut/Tennessee Start: Redshirt freshman Erin Gilroy and sophomore transfer Salera Jordan both made their Tennessee career debuts in the starting lineup at forward. Jordan transferred to UT after playing her freshman year at Middle Tennessee
- Ariel Kupritz now has five goals in her Tennessee career, scoring two in each of her last two seasons.
- Tennessee is now 15-6-1 in season openers.
- Goalkeeper Shae Yanez now has four career solo shutouts, having recorded three last year.
