Softball Signee Amanda Ayala Named High School All-American

Ayala returned from a serious injury to put together a spectacular senior season in 2017.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --Â Tennessee softball's class of 2017 signee Amanda Ayala was named to the Fastpitch News High School All-America first team on Tuesday after a stellar senior season for DePaul High School in New Jersey.
After missing her entire junior season with a leg injury, Ayala bounced back with a monster year in 2017, batting .583 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs as a leadoff hitter for the Spartans. She also posted a .615 on-base percentage and a 1.083 slugging percentage while leading DePaul High to its sixth consecutive Passaic County Tournament championship.

Ayala has been committed to play for UT since her sophomore season and is No. 37 in FloSoftball's 2017 Hot 100 Rankings. The speedster was also named an All-American by Premier Girls Fastpitch this season and is part of the Vols' 12th ranked signing class for 2017 that will take the field next spring.
