AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Tennessee men's golf team finished 12th with a team score of 4-over 868 in the 39th annual 3M Augusta Invitational on Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Vols entered the day tied for 10th at 3-under before carding a 7-over 295 in the final round. UCF took home the team title at 28-under 836. Wake Forest was second at 24-under 840 and New Mexico was third at 21-under 843.
Illinois' Dylan Meyer won the individual title at 11-under 205. Wake Forest's Will Zalatoris and UCF's Bobby Bai tied for second at 10-under 206.
This weekend's tournament featured what was arguably UT's toughest field of the season with six top 50 teams, including four ranked in Golfstat's top 20, and six individuals ranked in Golfweek's top 50.
Tennessee junior Lorenzo Scalise paced the Vols with a final score of 3-under 213, which tied for 19th. He carded three-straight rounds of 1-under 71 and logged 14 birdies on the weekend. The Vols started the day on the back nine and Scalise opened with 14-straight bogey-free holes, including birdies on the 14th, 15th, 17th, first and fifth. After a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole, he was at 5-under for the day and 7-under for the tournament, but bogeys on the sixth and eighth and a double bogey on the seventh put him back to 1-under for the round.
Redshirt freshman Nolan Ray moved up 14 spots and tied for 25th at 2-under 214 and saved his best round for Sunday, carding a 2-under 70 in his final 18 holes. He posted birdies on the 15th, 17th, sixth and ninth. Ray had 13 birdies for the tournament and tied for the best scoring average on par 5s at 4.25 (-9).
Senior Juan Carlos Serrano tied for 35th at even-par 216. He had birdies on the 10th, second and fifth holes. Serrano, who shot back-to-back rounds under par on Saturday, finished with 14 birdies for the tournament.
Freshman Jake Meenhorst tied for 73rd at 12-over 228. Freshman Rhys Nevin tied for 75th at 13-over.
The Vols will next compete in the 2017 SEC Championship from April 21-24 on Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course at St. Simons Island, Ga. The 2017 event will mark the first in which the championship will extend to a fourth day, with Match Play on Sunday, April 23, and Monday, April 24. Three rounds of stroke play will occur the opening two days of the championship.
