SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Freshman Rhys Nevin tied for 14th at 1-under and the Tennessee men's golf team finished eighth at the 2017 Desert Mountain Intercollegiate on Sunday at Desert Mountain's Outlaw Course.

The Vols combined to shoot 1-over 289 on Sunday, marking their best round of the tournament. UT finished at 13-over 877.
Host school Michigan won the team title at 13-under 851. Northwestern (11-under 853) finished second and Alabama (7-under 857) took third.
Alabama's Lee Hodges took home the individual title at 10-under 206. Michigan's Reed Hrynewich (9-under 207) and Purdue's Fernando Barco (8-under 208) rounded out the top three.
Nevin carded an even-par 72 to finish at 1-under 215, marking the best par score and 54 holes of his collegiate career. He tallied five birdies (holes No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, No. 9 and No. 15) on Sunday and finished the tournament with 10. Nevin's 36 pars ranked sixth in the 66-player field and his 2.83 stroke average on par 3s tied for the second-best mark.
Junior Lorenzo Scalise shot a 1-under 71 in the third round to move up 12 spots and finish tied for 34th at 6-over 222. In the third round, Scalise notched birdies on the fifth and 13th holes and posted an eagle on the 16th. His 4.25 stroke average on par 5s was the best mark in the tournament.
Freshman Jake Meenhorst climbed eight spots with an even-par 72 in the third round. He finished tied for 38th at 7-over 223. Meenhorst tallied birdies on the first, second, 13th and 14th holes on Sunday.
Senior Juan Carlos Serrano tied for 43rd at 9-over 225. Sophomore Nolan Ray tied for 45th at 10-over 226.
The Vols will next compete in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary, from March 19-21 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
