Lady Vols Fall 3-0 to Georgia

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tessa Grubbs finished with a team-high 11 kills for Tennessee in a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-18) home loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Tennessee (12-14, 5-12 SEC) just couldn't mimic its offensive output from Friday night as the Lady Vols could not get things going their direction in a tough home loss to Georgia (19-10, 9-7 SEC).

Tennessee led for much of the first set before Georgia would take a 18-17 lead off an attack error by Madison Coulter. The Lady Vols would tie the set back up at 20-all off a kill by Erica Treiber, which was a part of a 3-0 run. Georgia would go on to score six of the final 10 points to take a 26-24 opening set win. Coulter and Grubbs each had four kills for the Lady Vols in the set.

The Lady Vols opened the second set on a 3-1 run before Georgia got going on a kills by Kendall Kazor and Rachel Ritchie started a run that gave the Bulldogs the lead for good. Georgia would go on to take the set 25-20 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third and final set was controlled by Georgia as the Bulldogs never surrendered the lead during the set. Tennessee would tie the set at 5-all early following a kill by Treiber but the Bulldogs would go on to score the next three points to extend the lead. Georgia would hold on from that point and win the set 25-18.

Treiber finished with six kills and a .545 hitting percentage while Callie Williams added 26 assists for the Lady Vols.

Georgia was led by T'ara Ceasar, Cassidy Anderson and Majesti Bass who all finished with double-digit kills in the match. Ceasar finished with match-high 14 kills and 15 digs and setter Meghan Donovan also finished with a double-double by accounting for 40 assists and 13 digs.

Tennessee will close out the regular season on Friday, November 24 when it hosts the LSU Tigers for Senior Day at 7 p.m. Â Â Â Â
