Wiedenmann Leads Vols on Day 1 at CCB Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Tennessee sophomore Luca Wiedenmann led the Vols with a 2-0 start Friday to the CCB Collegiate Invitational.

Wiedenmann defeated Weng Po Tseng of Southern Miss 6-1, 6-4, in the opening round and then added a 6-3, 7-5 win over Lucas Gonzalez of South Alabama. He also picked up a doubles victory with redshirt freshman Ryan Smith.

The semifinals will be played Saturday with Wiedenmann set to face Alabama's Zhe Zhou.

Adam Walton split his opening matches, winning the first over Terradorn Tortrakul of Southern Miss 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
