Stodder Rolls in Round 1 of Fall Nationals

PALM DESERT, Calif. — Tennessee junior Timo Stodder cruised in straight sets Wednesday to open the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort.Â
Stodder trailed early but never looked back once he took the lead in a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Sean Hill of BYU.Â
He advances to Thursday's second round and will face Baylor's Bjoern Petersen, who knocked off No. 14 seed Wayne Montgomery of Georgia 6-4, 6-3.Â
Stodder is now 11-3 this fall.Â
