October 05, 2017 | Men's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. — Tennessee junior Timo Stodder breezed through his first round of the ITA All-American Championships on Thursday, defeating Charlie Broom of Dartmouth 6-3, 6-1.
Stodder, a 9-16 seed in the draw, earned his first career main draw win at a national collegiate tournament. He will face qualifier Ferran Calvo in the second round Friday.
Rain forced play indoors during the morning but play began moving outdoors as courts dried. Stodder pulled away from 100th-ranked Broom in both sets to improve to 4-1 to start the season.
